April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player American, is among a select group of women who have won medals in several Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her first Olympic gold. At 39 she could have her final chance. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. If we play our highest or play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was born August 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she clearly was superior to the rest in the latter sport. The college bio says that she played outside of the hitter middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career during high school. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as an 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. In fact, she's been able to win multiple tournaments, including one with a legendary volleyball player. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning a world title in 2009. They went on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat out for gold. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat as an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her status as a legend in volleyball. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest stage. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore in USC. She has kept her parents close to her the heart. Margie at the beach and in daily life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
